Cơ sở Covax sẽ cung cấp cho Việt Nam gần 9 triệu liều vắc xin AstraZeneca bổ sung, cho phép cả nước tiêm chủng cho tất cả công nhân tuyến đầu.
The Covax facility will provide Vietnam with almost 9 million additional doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, allowing the nation to vaccinate all frontline workers.
Trong báo cáo gửi Thủ tướng Phạm Minh Chính hôm thứ Hai, Bộ Y tế cho biết Cơ sở vắc xin Covid-19 toàn cầu (Covax) sẽ cung cấp cho Việt Nam 38,9 triệu liều vắc xin AstraZeneca thay vì 30 triệu liều đã cam kết trước đó.
The Global Covid-19 Vaccine Facility (Covax) will supply Vietnam with 38.9 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine instead of the 30 million pledged earlier, the Ministry of Health said in a report sent Monday to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Covax là một cơ chế toàn cầu trong việc phát triển, sản xuất và mua sắm các ứng cử viên vắc xin Covid-19, tạo điều kiện và hỗ trợ các nước thành viên tiếp cận vắc xin khi chúng có sẵn.
Covax is a global mechanism in the development, manufacturing, and procurement of Covid-19 vaccine candidates, facilitating and supporting member countries to access vaccines as they become available.
Theo kế hoạch mà Việt Nam đã và đang triển khai, ngoài nhân viên y tế tuyến đầu, nhân viên y tế, quân đội và công an, và danh sách ưu tiên tiêm vắc xin Covid-19 bao gồm giáo viên, nhân viên ngoại giao, nhân viên hải quan và xuất nhập cảnh, những người làm việc trong các dịch vụ thiết yếu như phương tiện giao thông, những người từ 65 tuổi trở lên, người nghèo và những người mắc bệnh mãn tính.
Under the plan that Vietnam has already unveiled and is implementing, besides frontline medical workers, medical staff, the military, and the police, and the priority list for Covid-19 vaccination includes teachers, diplomatic personnel, customs, and immigration officers, those working in essential services like transport, people aged 65 and above, the poor, and those with chronic diseases.

The ministry said in the report that the nation now has 19.4 million people in priority groups, with HCMC accounting for the most at 1.56 million.

The demand for the free vaccine among the priority groups, however, could be lower than expected because some are reluctant to receive it, the ministry noted.
Ngoài vắc xin do Covax cung cấp, Việt Nam đã đạt được thỏa thuận để Công ty cổ phần vắc xin Việt Nam (VNVC) mua 30 triệu liều từ công ty AstraZeneca của Anh-Thụy Điển.
Aside from the vaccine provided by Covax, Vietnam has secured a deal to have Vietnam Vaccine JSC (VNVC) buy 30 million doses from British-Swedish firm AstraZeneca.

The ministry first asked for support from the Covax Facility last year and in December, Covax confirmed that it would provide vaccines enough for 20 percent of Vietnam’s population, which currently is around 96 million.

Trước khi Covax đồng ý tăng số lượng vắc xin cung cấp cho Việt Nam, Bộ Y tế đã lên kế hoạch mua 10 triệu liều từ VNVC.
Before Covax agreed to raise the number of vaccines it would give Vietnam, the Health Ministry had planned to buy ten million doses from the VNVC.

With the latest development; however, that plan has been called off.
Cho đến nay, khoảng 260.000 người Việt Nam đã được tiêm chủng ngừa Covid-19 bằng vắc-xin do AstraZeneca sản xuất. Hầu hết là nhân viên tuyến đầu trong cuộc chiến Covid-19, bao gồm bác sĩ, y tá, quân đội và công an.
So far, around 260,000 Vietnamese have been inoculated against Covid-19 with the vaccine produced by AstraZeneca. Most are frontline workers in the Covid-19 fight, including doctors, nurses, soldiers, and police officers.
