Police bust high-end prostitution ring in Ho Chi Minh City

Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security (Bộ Công an) broke up an illegal ring offering high-end prostitution services (đường dây mại dâm cao cấp) allegedly involving models and beauty pageant winners (người mẫu và các thí sinh thắng giải các cuộc thi nhan sắc) that charged tens of thousands of U.S. dollars for their services.
Police officers raided (đột kích) a hotel in Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City at around 2:00 pm on Sunday, a source close to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper confirmed.
Three women were caught red-handed (bắt quả tang) offering sex services to their customers at the venue.
Another team of officers arrested (bắt giữ) Luc Trieu Vy, 27, at his house in District 7 on the same day for soliciting.
At the police station, the three women claimed they had previously participated in beauty contests (tham gia các cuộc thi nhan sắc) in Vietnam as well as in foreign countries.
They were sent to local hotels by Vy and offered prostitution services (cung cấp dịch vụ mại dâm) to customers at US$18,000-30,000.
Preliminary information showed that only a few women in the ring were actual (thật sự) models and beauty pageant contestants.
However, Vy advertised that all of his sex workers (nhân viên hành nghề mại dâm) were participants in various beauty contests in order to raise the price (nâng giá).
The operations (sự hoạt động / vận hành) of the prostitution ring (đường dây mại dâm) were very discreet (kín đáo / tinh vi), and members regularly changed service locations (thường xuyên thay đổi địa điểm hoạt động) to avoid detection (tránh bị phát hiện), police said.
Further investigation (sự điều tra) is ongoing.
