Sản xuất dệt may tăng 2,8% so với cùng kỳ trong nửa đầu năm nay so với 11,5% cùng kỳ năm ngoái, theo báo cáo của Bộ Công Thương.
Textile production grew by 2.8 percent year-on-year in the first half of this year compared to 11.5 percent in the same period last year, according to a report by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Sản xuất hàng may mặc giảm 4,7% so với ngành công nghiệp gặp khó khăn trong việc tìm nguồn cung ứng nguyên liệu thô và nhanh chóng mất đơn hàng xuất khẩu do sự bùng phát của đại dịch Covid 19.
Garment production fell 4.7 percent with the industry having difficulties sourcing raw materials and rapidly losing export orders due to the Covid 19 outbreak.
Many export orders were canceled or delayed in May and June. In May, up to 50 percent of orders were canceled or postponed, and global prices fell 20 percent due to the plunging demand, the Ministry added.

According to a report of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, 80 percent of businesses in the industry laid off personnel in April and May, and more cuts are expected in the third quarter.
The company’s revenues and profit have fallen by half, according to Le Tien Truong, CEO of the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group.
The company is making efforts to retain as many of its staff as possible, but if the current situation persists for more than six months, cuts are probable, he added.
Most companies have shifted their focus from clothes to face masks to meet the rising demand globally. In the first six months, Vietnam exported 557 million masks. The U.S., Germany, Singapore and South Korea are being the main markets of the country, customs figures showed.
However, insiders said mask exports would not make up for the lack of garment orders.
Ông Trường dự báo trong trường hợp xấu nhất xuất khẩu hàng dệt may sẽ giảm 23% xuống còn 30 tỷ USD trong năm nay.
Truong forecast that in the worst-case scenario textile and garment exports would fall by 23 percent to $30 billion this year.
