PM orders investigation of Covid-19 testing equipment procurement
Bộ Y tế và chính quyền địa phương được khuyến khích rà soát và điều tra việc mua sắm thiết bị được sử dụng cho việc xét nghiệm Covid-19, căn bệnh do coronavirus mới gây ra.
The Health Ministry and local authorities have been urged to review and investigate the procurement of equipment used for testing Covid-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus.
Thủ tướng Nguyễn Xuân Phúc đã ban hành lệnh theo đề nghị của Bộ Công an để thăm dò cáo buộc gian lận trong việc sử dụng tài trợ trong các nỗ lực phòng ngừa và kiểm soát dịch Covid-19, theo báo Thanh Niên đưa tin.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc issued the order following a Ministry of Public Security proposal to probe the alleged fraud in the use of funding earmarked for Covid-19 prevention and control efforts, reported Thanh Nien newspaper.
Thủ tướng Phúc yêu cầu Bộ Y tế và chính quyền tỉnh và thành phố trên toàn quốc nhanh chóng rà soát việc mua vật tư y tế, đặc biệt là máy thở, khẩu trang và máy xét nghiệm coronavirus, để hỗ trợ trong cuộc chiến chống lại Covid-19.
PM Phuc asked the Health Ministry and provincial and municipal governments nationwide to quickly review the purchases of medical supplies, especially ventilators, face masks and coronavirus testing machines, to assist in the fight against Covid-19.
Trước đó, một số địa phương đã mua máy phản ứng sao chép chuỗi polymerase ngược (RT-PCR) để xét nghiệm dịch Covid-19 với giá tăng cao.
Earlier, some localities had bought reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) machines for Covid-19 testing at inflated prices.

The Ministry of Public Security’s investigators found that the head and other employees of Hanoi Center for Disease Control and Prevention were in collusion with medical equipment companies to inflate the price of the bidding package for the purchase of RT-PCR machines.
