Although there is a lot of software available today that can translate from one language to another, it is still necessary for people to learn a foreign language. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
It is acknowledged that in the high–tech world, human’s lives turn into more convenient thanks to loads of modern software invented. The propensity that people take advantage of these applications s to translate from foreign languages to their mother tongue is prevailing, which brings us a lot of benefits we cannot deny. Nevertheless, those tools cannot replace humans so it is opined that people should learn a foreign language at all costs. For my money, I wholeheartedly go along with this statement.
To commence with, notwithstanding the wonderful ability to change the language, most software still has mistakes and they are not able to convey completely and precisely the content of speakers to us. Indeed, humans have different emotions such as aggressiveness, tenderness, disgust, jubilance, etc that only a person in face–to–face communication can observe and make himself understand. Therefore, following a course to learn other languages beyond our first language induces us to converse with each other in a more effective way.
Besides, it is considered that utilizing an application to translate language during the dialogue will create a big barrier and people have difficulty in being closer. In fact, it is a waste of time when one person has to wait for another to use a supporting – language application to understand what this person says. Consequently, we cannot foster our relationship so this is the reason why we should brush up on foreign language at the drop of a hat.
Finally, there is no doubt that having good knowledge about other language increases our qualification and competitiveness in a constantly - evolving world. If we are capable of speaking a foreign language, we can surely widen our knowledge about other fields like economics, politics, cultures, and arts, which make us more proficient and talented. To illustrate, there is a fabulous source of human knowledge written in English so it is a piece of cake for us to own this if we are bilingual people. Because of the fact that we develop by leaps and bound, we will have high social status with a high salary in the near future.
In a nutshell, though many software helps us to convert one language to another, picking a new language still plays a vital role in our life and work on the grounds of the above-mentioned reasons. Not only do we upgrade ourselves but we also have the potentials to become high flyers, so do not hesitate to study a foreign language.
