Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve the growing traffic and pollution problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective?
Traffic and pollution become two of the major concerns worldwide these days. While many argue that putting up the price of petrol is the best way to resolve these troubles, I disagree with this method because it cannot replace people's habit of using petrol and there are some other measures more possible.
There are some reasons why I do not think that method should help to reduce the growing traffic and pollution problems. Firstly, increasing the price of petrol cannot replace people’s habit of using petrol. Petrol has been the top choice in all countries around the world for ages whilst most of the transportation is gasoline-powered-vehicles. Petrol has been an indispensable thing in human’s life. Additionally, in many countries that produce paraffin, like Iran or India, petrol becomes the main and available fuel, so using petrol is the most convenient and economical way. Secondly, there are some other methods more possible in reducing problems related to traffic and pollution. These are developing public transport system and increasing the use of other clean fuels, wind energy or solar energy. Hence, increasing the price of petrol is not affect the consumption of gasoline, leading traffic problems and environmental pollution not minimized.
Also, various ways could be done to settle the growing traffic and pollution problems. One of them is that officials should invest money in designing public transport, bus or coach. This is the best way to encourage people in using public vehicles. As a result, the number of vehicles on the roads will be remarkably lowered, thereby reducing the number of exhaust fumes. Besides, the government should take measures to assist new-clean- energy companies to decrease their selling price so that people can access closer to these kinds of energy. This helps people to eliminate the habit of using gasoline, reducing environmental pollution as well.
In conclusion, I disagree with raising the price of petrol is the most effective way of solving problems related to traffic and pollution. Thus, there are some other solutions to help to solve these problems in more effective ways.
