Write an essay (150 - 300 words) about this topic:

Having different languages makes it difficult for people of different nationalities to communicate with each other. It would be better if there was only one language in the world. What are the advantages and disadvantages of everyone in the world speaking the same language?

Undoubtedly, it is very convenient for human race to have a global language to get in touch together. However, the method has its both positive and negative impacts.

It is clear that speaking the common language will help to abolish linguistic barrier among people in many different countries. Firstly, one country’s citizens would easily communicate with another’ one if there was a single global language. The same tongue; moreover, will help persons understand each other as well as reduce conflicts among them. A single global language would also be more efficient in the world economy because international businesses and corporation would be better to implement. A general tongue ; besides, will be a good way for world-wide people to be able to study and find out about each other’s specific culture background, which brings about a rapprochement between states.

Nevertheless, there are some drawbacks to such this measure. One of the first disadvantages of method is to make people forget their roots and even part of their culture because language is almost always linked to culture. Another drawback is related to every country’s economy. It would be costly and difficult for every country to learn about and then translate all documents, especially, fields related to history or science, into to the common language if there was a global language. Moreover, there would be no cultural diversity in every nation if we all spoke the same language. The world would be certainly insipid because no one was interested to find out other country's cultural character and long-standing customs.

In conclusion, although speaking the same language can help many people around the world easily contact together, such a method will bring out some handicaps for individuals as well as many countries all the world due to the above reasons given.
