Write an essay (150 - 300 words) about this topic:
Some people believe that the best way to produce a happier society is to ensure that only small differences between the rich and the poor. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Essay 1:
In this contemporary context, getting a happier life is the intent of many countries in the world. And there is a belief that the best way to produce a happier society is to ensure that only small differences between the rich and the poor. Personally, I disagree with this idea.
First of all, I admit that the discrimination between the wealthy people and the impoverished ones is a reason leading to an unhappy society. With lots of money, rich people can buy enough necessities and have a convenient life. Meanwhile, many poor people have to worry about accommodations, clothes and even every meal in a day. They often feel inferior and timid in their relationships. So, narrowing the distance between the rich and the poor may be a way to gain a happier life.
However, I do not think it is the best way because it also has disadvantages. There will be a lot of things to do if you want to actualize it, and this may also limit the development of the economy. Moreover, because of the differences, there will be a competition between people to get a better life. In addition, there are many other ways to live more enjoyably such as having free education, getting your dream jobs, etc. With some people, just eating their favorite foods or hanging out with their lovers can also make them happy.
In conclusion, ensuring that only small differences between the rich and the poor is not the best way to become happier. "Happy or not" is also depends on how people feel about their lives.
Essay 2:
These days, with the development of society, there are more and more people wanting to make their life and even their society happier, and the measure which is considered the best way to do that is to close the gap between the rich and the poor. As for this opinion, I do not agree because eliminating differences between the rich and the poor is not the only and the most effective way to produce a happier society.
First and foremost, it can’t be denied that closing the gap between rich people and poor ones is not a bad idea, but it’s not enough to create a happy life for everyone. If the government enforces laws that help make the rich and the poor closer, the rich people working hard to earn money to have a fully equipped life may be very discouraged and bored due to the no-gap between them and others. They won’t have the energy to work and will give up their business. That creates harmful effects on the development of the economy. Moreover, we cannot just leave only small differences between the rich and the poor but should take some other solutions as well to produce a blissful society. We can hold some charity meetings to help the people in great need, who have a poor living standard by raising funds, donating clothes, providing food and drinks and so on. Also, the national government should allow the poor to have some privileges like paying the lighter taxes than the rich or supporting them on living expenses. These will help poor people not to feel too much stressed about how to pay the bills while the rich ones still feel satisfied with what they benefit.
In a nutshell, eliminating the differences between the rich and the poor is not good enough to solve the desire of creating a happier and better society for everyone. Therefore, we should take other measures to fulfill that wish instead of doing that.
