Essay 1:
Using mobile phone to answer work and personal calls at any time or 7 days a week an increasingly popular trend among young people. Although there are some drawbacks, in my opinion, I believe that this is an overall positive trend.
On the other hand, nobody can deny considerable benefits from this phenomenon. The first reason is that this kind of device could make it convenient for people to keep in touch with their family, friends, colleagues at anywhere or anytime because it provides users with useful communications such as SMS, call and apps that allow people to instantly connect to everyone and it is also portable. For example, exchange students could make an international call to their family to ease their homesickness. The second reason is that it gives people flexibility and comfort to boost their working performance, especially in case some problems arise when they are not the workplace, they can completely handle remotely by using telephones to discuss with their co-workers for solving the problem.
On the other hand, there are still potential drawbacks when humans increase their dependence on cell phones. Firstly, the habit of overusing this modern device of people could have a negative effect on people’s health, especially children. Because they tend to spend a lot of time playing mobile games or using social working sites such as Facebook Twitter on their smartphone. As a result, they may suffer medical conditions such as obesity or bad eyesight. Moreover, using a cell phone may pose to people’s life in some situations. For example, using a phone while driving cars could distract drivers which is the primary cause of traffic accidents.
In conclusion, although this trend may bring some notable drawbacks, the benefits of these technical devices are still undeniable. Therefore, I certainly hold the view that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
Essay 2
Technology has come such a long way nowadays that people can make use of their mobile phone to answer work or personal calls at any time. Although there are some negative consequences of this development on individuals and society, I believe that they are outweighed by the positive effects.
On the individual aspect, the fact that no work calls are missed could greatly enhance one’s work efficiency. As we are living in the era of globalization, the international cooperation between companies is common and necessary. Being able to make calls and discuss with business partners regardless of time zones is a great advantage. On a larger scale, this can also contribute to the development of the economy, thus an increase in the living standard. Furthermore, people can benefit from the fact that their beloved ones are available for a call at any time. One could seek help from their friends and family whenever they need, which is especially beneficial in case of emergency. And as the flow of information between people is constant, society will be connected and move forward.
However, the drawbacks of this development should not be overlooked. Being able to answer calls all the time means people have less privacy, even in their own home. It also means that workers have to handle a larger amount of workload and have less quality time for their families. However, the work-life balance could still be maintained by just a simple act of switching off one’s mobile phone whenever they leave the office or do not want to be bothered.
In conclusion, despite a few drawbacks, the use of mobile phones for work and personal calls brings about more benefits to individuals and society
