Thai suspect charged with murder of Swiss tourist on Phuket
Cảnh sát Thái Lan cho biết, ngày hôm qua, một người đàn ông Thái Lan 27 tuổi đã bị buộc tội giết một du khách Thụy Sĩ, được phát hiện đã chết vào ngày 3 tháng 8 trên hòn đảo nghỉ mát Phuket.
Thailand’s police said, yesterday a 27-year-old Thai man had been accused of murdering a Swiss traveler who was found dead on August 3rd on the resort island of Phuket.

At a news conference in Phuket, a deputy police spokesman Krisana Pattanacharoen said "Police have charged the offender for murder and robbery causing death".

"The cause of death has yet to be confirmed and autopsy has yet to be released," he said.

The victim is Nicole Sauvain-Weisskopf, the 57-year-old assistant protocol chief of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland. She was killed when travelling Thailand under the new Phuket Sandbox tourist campaign that allows fully vaccinated.

After being detained and questioned, the man confessed to knocking out the victim and robbed 300 baht ($9) in her bag, having encountered the female tourist at a waterfall in which he had gone to find fruits. The accused later used the money to buy drugs, drinks and phone repairs, according to deputy provincial police chief Nanthadet Yoinuan.
